Two boggling mysteries have occurred in a small town in Xinan. A female police captain joins hands with a young detective to conduct an investigation. As more and more clues resurface, the cases in the hands of the police hands become complicated and entangled. On the morning of June 22, 1969, oil and debris that had collected on the surface of the Cuyahoga River as wound its way through Cleveland caught fire. The story attracted national attention, and was featured in a report on the nation’s environmental problems in the August 1 Time magazine.

As Cleveland emerged as a major center for manufacturing, the river became heavily affected by industrial pollution, so much so that it “caught fire” at least 13 times, most famously on June 22, 1969, helping to spur the American environmental movement.
